Students come out to play

9/06/2008 9:50:00 AM
WORKERS Arena came alive on Friday with schools across the region participating in the Gilbert/Croker Cup.

It is the second year the event has run in Goulburn and after 11-13 teams last year entries for the competition doubled this year, with 22 teams competing.

The rugby league tournament for years 3/4 and 5/6 students is a seven-a-side competition designed to get children to try the sport.

ARL and Raiders development officer Brad Donald said the day was a real success, and expects the event to grow even bigger next year.
