OVER 60 ACT and Southern NSW schoolboys recently played in the annual selection trials for a chance to play in the ACT open schoolboys side.
The selection trials usually involve a match between Associated Southern Colleges (ASC) and Combined Secondary Colleges (CSC) but this year the ASC team was split into two sides allowing selectors a greater talent pool to draw from.
The new format provided a selection headache for ACT coach Paul Mead, who had to sift through the abundance of talent to finalise the squad.
Mead said the new selection process gave more players a chance to stake their claims for a place in the ACT team.
