Strikers skin Foxes in first half frenzy

STFA Strikers 8

Belwest Foxes 1

COMPETITION leaders the STFA Strikers travelled to Canberra on Saturday to play last placed Belwest Foxes.

Still unbeaten this season the Strikers were keen to extend their undefeated run to 10 consecutive matches: an historical landmark for the STFA side.

Defeat was out of the question in Goulburn's minds with the only uncertainty whether the Strikers were going to repeat last week's explosive performance. Explosive is the only way to describe the Southern Tablelands start, as they went one up in less than two minutes.

As the Strikers attacked Belwest's goal Daniel Aliffi was brought down in the box and without hesitation the referee awarded a penalty. Aliffi took the spot kick placing the ball just inside the upright, out of the goalkeeper's reach.
