Strength to strength: Underdogs ready to rumble

IF you had asked Goulburn City Swans coach Heath Russell at the start of the year, or even after four rounds, whether he thought his side would make the finals, he would have said no.

Now after 18 rounds, the Swans have exceeded expectations and will compete against Belconnen Magpies in the elimination final.

Russell attributes belief to the side's turn around after some early losses.

"We always had the talent, we're young and fit, and once we got the first win everything clicked. The young guys and the newer players just went from strength to strength," he said.
