Okinawa journey beckons Lambert

25/06/2008 10:49:00 AM
LOCAL karate enthusiast David Lambert will leave Australia on July 4 for a two-month stay on the island of Okinawa - the official birthplace of karate.

Lambert will spend his time on the island training with his Master, Sensei Morio Higaonna, 10th degree black belt and Chief Instructor of the International Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate-do Federation (IOGKF).

Lambert will also make a slight detour to stop in Tokyo and train with Sensei Kazuo Terauchi, an 8th degree black belt and one of Master Higaonna's most senior students.

"I trained with Terauchi Sensei last time I was in Tokyo, when I was 15. His teaching style is renowned as quite hard and physical and he did not disappoint me," Lambert said.
