LAST weekend saw the Goulburn Cycle Club stage a time trial on Middle Arm Road. Known as the race of truth, because there's nowhere to hide and no one to draft behind, it is about going as fast as you can over the distance with the aim of recording the fastest time to win your grade.
Middle Arm Road is a good course to test this with riders, who would normally rely on a group to take them over a couple of short climbs mid course, tested on the day.
Twelve riders came to the line with the sole intent of going fast. Each rider left at one-minute intervals ably started by the flag waving, time keeping Mrs Bush.
In A grade fastest rider over the course was Jake Magee in 1:12:31. A V8 performance from Jake, clearly shaping up as the top A grader in the club. Second fastest was Jarrod Coveney in 1:15:40. Had the turbo on most of the race, great performance.
