16s move into outright second

THE STFA Strikers U/16 side battled Belwest for outright second place on the table at Cookbundoon on Saturday.

The pace was furious from the first whistle, with the Strikers having the most of the early opportunities.

A nicely weighted pass from Luke Will found Josh Storrier one-on-one with the Belwest keeper. Storrier pushed the ball past the keeper, before being tackled, but Belwest managed to clear the ball off the line.

The Strikers continued to attack and earned themselves a corner. Tom Elliot took the kicking duties and used the wind brilliantly, only to be denied by the goal post. The Strikers were well in control and a goal seemed only minutes away.
