Volunteer work could earn tidy title: City's gems in award race

25/08/2008 10:21:00 AM
OUR historical city has a shot at gaining a new title.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council entered the Tidy Towns Cultural Heritage Award, which will be judged today.

A Tidy Towns Award assessor will visit the Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum, Waterworks Museum and St Clair Museum.

The award entry focuses on the work of the Friends of the Museum group, "a dedicated 'army' of around 40 volunteers" whose efforts have helped to restore, maintain and open the museums.

"The Friends of the Museums do everything from maintaining and restoring the surrounding parks and gardens (including weed removal, revegetation and removing rubbish), to undertaking major engineering works and developing/curating significant exhibitions," the entry read.

For the full story, please see Monday's Goulburn Post, available from our front office in Auburn St, or at all leading newsagencies across the Goulburn area.
