THE 61 wind turbines soon to surround Taralga will now be 131.5m tall and some will have lights as a result of a Land and Environment Court decision last week.
The Land and Environment Court handed down its decision to approve the new height for the wind turbines of 131.5m (up from 110m) with more conditions, in Sydney on August 21.
The new conditions include that RES Southern Cross must offer to buy out two more affected neighbours, as well as consider Tablelands Basalt Forest on the site, including replanting, and careful construction to minimise the loss of trees.
New noise conditions will also be required and the wind farm will be independently monitored six times a year for the life of the project from various neighbouring properties, at times unannounced and to be paid for by RES Southern Cross.
