Days of thunder and thanks

MONDAY night's thunderstorms have given Goulburn its wettest 24 hours of the year and a thankful follow-up to decent rains earlier this month.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Goulburn received 26mm to 9am yesterday at the TAFE weather station.

This was the wettest 24 hours since January 16, 2006, when a freak storm dumped 126mm on the city, causing major damage to shops and houses.

Total rainfall for October so far is 68.4mm, which is well above the monthly average of 55mm.
