Council to review pipeline costings

20/06/2008 9:28:00 AM
AN independent assessment of spending on the Wingecarribee pipeline will be carried out following a unanimous council decision.

Cr Max Hadlow called for the "independent capital review" at Tuesday night's meeting, after staff tendered more detailed costing on the Highland Source project.

"Finally, finally, after months of asking, we have got these costings, albeit I recall (water services manager) Greg Finlayson telling us we wouldn't know the cost until it was finished," Cr Hadlow said.

However he remained "sceptical" about the process and pointed out that under new draft guidelines for capital expenditure by local government, councils had to undertake a business and risk management plan as well as a probity plan for projects over $10 million.
